Youngster Chris Long has expressed his desire to earn himself a new deal at Everton.
The 19-year-old, who is currently on loan at Brentford, will be out of contract at Goodison Park at the end of the season.
However, the striker is hopeful that he can prove that he is worthy of fresh terms during his stint with the Championship high-flyers.
"I'm fighting for a contract because my deal is up at the end of the year. I've been at Everton since I was five, so hopefully I can cement a place up front there one day," Get West London quotes Long as saying.
"I have to work hard to prove myself while I am down here. I've been dying to get out and play all season, so hopefully I can take my chance. I've scored a lot of goals at academy level but I want to test myself in the Championship."
England youth international Long made his senior Toffees debut in the Europa League last month.
