Everton goalkeeper Jan Mucha has revealed that a lack of first-team action aided his decision to retire from international football.
The 29-year-old, who appeared for Slovakia at the 2010 World Cup, joined Everton from Legia Warsaw two years ago.
However, he has ruled himself out of the international picture following a lack of football in recent seasons.
"I don't want to put the coaches under unnecessary pressure because of myself. I will do my best to win a regular place in the starting lineup, be it at my current or possibly future club," he told the Slovak FA's official website.
"With my performances I want to prove to people that I have the quality to be in the national team. Playing for my country has always been an honour to me."
Mucha is expected to leave Everton in January.
