Everton forward Steven Naismith insists that his thoughts are solely on the club's upcoming fixtures rather than speculation over his own future.

Everton forward Steven Naismith has insisted that he is focusing solely on his side's upcoming games as speculation continues to build over his future.

The Scotland international last week admitted that he could leave the club in January having not featured in a Premier League match since being taken off at half time of the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on October 17.

Naismith revealed that he plans to speak to manager Roberto Martinez about his future, but stressed that he is ready to take any chances that might come his way in the meantime.

"I'll speak to the manager and see where we're at but I am just focused on the Christmas run. There are so many games and it might be the chance I need," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"Come the middle of January I may have played every game since and it's no longer being talked about. I have learnt in football that things can change in an instant.

"After my first season at Everton, I was being written off and people didn't think I was worth my place in the squad. But a year later I was playing well and played nearly every game throughout the season, so football is so fickle and can change so quickly."

Naismith has played just 286 minutes in the Premier League since scoring a hat-trick against Chelsea in September.
