Everton manager Roberto Martinez has insisted that defender John Stones will be prepared for the World Cup if he is selected by England coach Roy Hodgson.
Stones has yet to represent England at senior level, but after a superb second half to the season at Goodison Park, Martinez believes that the 19-year-old has the maturity to handle a surprise call-up for the tournament in Brazil.
The 40-year-old told Sky Sports News: "John has had the perfect period in this campaign. He has had to face all kinds of strikers and different situations, and he has shown an incredible maturity.
"I think that he has shown that he is in a very good moment of form and he's at a very good level, so character-wise, I can guarantee that he is ready to embrace whatever challenges come his way."
Stones has been suggested as a possible replacement for Phil Jones should the Manchester United defender fail to recover from a shoulder injury.
