Evian TG have claimed three vital points in their battle for Ligue 1 survival courtesy of a 2-0 win over Nice this evening.
Kevin Berigaud gave Evian the lead in the 19th minute when he fired a composed effort past Mouez Hassan.
Berigaud was close to adding a second just past the half-hour mark, but his long-range strike went just wide.
The visitors almost equalised at the end of the first half through Nampalys Mendy, who saw his strike from inside the box saved by the keeper.
Marco Ruben worked a good opening for Evian shortly after the break with a strike that flashed wide of the post.
In the 77th minute Evian doubled their lead when Nicolas Benezet fired a strike into the top corner following a counter-attack.
Romain Genevois headed wide for Nice in the closing stages, but the home side held on to record a valuable three points.
The result means that Evian have closed the gap on Nice in the Ligue 1 table to one point, with both teams sitting perilously above the relegation zone.
