Hibernian have beaten Falkirk 1-0 at Falkirk Stadium to close the gap on table-toppers Rangers to eight points.
Falkirk came close after 13 minutes as Lee Miller hit the bar with a header, before Blair Alston tested Mark Oxley with a first-time shot from the edge of the area but the Hibs stopper was equal to the effort.
However, it was the away side that would take the lead as Alston pushed John McGinn in the box and Jason Cummings tucked the resulting penalty beyond the reach of Danny Rodgers.
After the break, Dominique Malonga had an opportunity to put Hibs two goals to the good but his close-range chip was straight at Rodgers.
Miller looked to have had a tap-in late in the game but a block by Darren McGregor denied the Falkirk forward from levelling the scores and gave his side the three points.
Hibs move back above Raith Rovers into third while Falkirk remain fourth in the Scottish Championship.
