A goal from Christian Holst shortly before the break has given the Faroe Islands a 1-0 lead over Finland in their Euro 2016 qualifier this evening.
Both sides had chances early on as Finland's Niki Maenpaa punched away a header from close range from Sonni Nattestad, before Roman Eremenko was denied by Gunnar Nielsen down the other end less than two minutes later.
The visitors soon began to dominate, with Teemu Pukki having several shots saved before Nielsen tipped a Riku Riski effort away from the Faroe Islands' goal.
However, the hosts won the ball back shortly before the break and forced a corner, which resulted in a goal when Holst smashed the ball in from the edge of the box.
Pukki tried to force an equaliser in stoppage time, but mis-hit his shot to send the ball well high of the crossbar.
