Mesut Ozil scored twice as Germany opened their World Cup qualifying campaign with an emphatic home win over the Faroe Islands this evening.
Mario Gotze fired the hosts ahead on 28 minutes before Ozil doubled his side's advantage nine minutes after the break, steering home from 12 yards following a brilliant cross from Thomas Muller.
The Real Madrid playmaker then put the result beyond doubt 19 minutes from time when he latched onto Marco Reus's neat pass and drilled home.
Germany currently sit top of Group C, ahead of the Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Austria and Kazakhstan.
They will now travel to Austria ahead of their next match on Tuesday.
