Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar have snapped up former Utrecht defender Jan Wuytens amid reported interest from other sides in the Dutch top flight.

Wuytens said that the club's desire to land him made up his mind to sign for AZ and is looking forward to his time with his new side.

"It's very important for me that a coach and a club are really going for you," Wuytens told De Telegraaf.

"I had a good conversation with [coach] Gertjan Verbeek and Earnest Stewart. I really appreciate that they had enormous patience to wait for me."

Wuytens has yet to be capped by Belgium.
