Fleetwood Town have recorded a 1-0 away win against struggling Torquay United in today's League Two clash at Plainmoor.
The visitors had an early chance in the first half when a low cross from Charlie Taylor nearly reached Jamille Matt at the back post after just two minutes.
Shortly afterwards, Antoni Sarcevic blasted a shot over the Gulls bar. However, a minute later the home side threatened, but the Fleetwood defence eventually scrambling the ball clear.
Midway through the first period, Aaron Downes unleashed a fierce strike from 40 yards that had Chris Maxwell back-pedalling, but the ball floated over.
Early on after the restart, Fleetwood's Mark Roberts made two crucial blocks to deny the Gulls, while just a few minutes later, Sarcevic hit the home side's post when clean through on goal.
Eventually the Cod Army took the lead. Following on from a Jon Parkin through-ball, Matt was able to get himself on the scoresheet in the 70th minute.
With seven minutes to go, a penalty shout by the hosts was waved away as Nathan Pond was alleged to have committed a foul in the box, and the match eventually ended with Torquay condemned to yet another defeat.
