Goals from James Norwood and Jon Parkin have earned Forest Green Rovers a comfortable 2-0 win over Halifax Town in the Conference Premier this afternoon.
Forest Green began the match at a fast pace with Luke Oliver twice going close with headers from inside the penalty area, but the home side took the lead after 20 minutes when Norwood was well placed at the back post to head into the net.
Nine minutes later, they doubled their advantage through Parkin who, after being found by a Clovis Kamdjo pass, confidently converted the ball past Matt Glennon from close range.
After the teams had returned for the second half, Forest Green continued to dominate and Glennon had to be alert to keep out a Kamdjo drive to ensure that the match was not put out of their reach.
As the game entered the final quarter, Halifax finally began to threaten a goal, but, after Matty Pearson had seen his free kick deflected wide, Richard Peniket headed off target from inside the penalty area.
Peniket wasted another chance soon afterwards, again with his head, but that was as good as it got for the Shaymen as Forest Green easily hung on for the three points
