Sports Mole analyses Fortuna Dusseldorf's 4-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at home in the Bundesliga on Friday.

Fortuna Dusseldorf have defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0 at home in the Bundesliga.

Frankfurt forward Karim Matmour was controversially sent off in the 34th minute, and subsequent goals from Stefan Reisinger, Oliver Fink, Nando Rafael and Axel Bellinghausen saw the hosts bag maximum points.

Here Sports Mole takes a closer look to see if the result was fair.

Was the result fair?

Yes. The visitors were quiet and tame throughout the match even before they were reduced to 10 men. Fortuna had more and better chances, controlled possession well and looked threatening whenever they surged forward. Defensively too, the home side were impressive.

Fortuna Dusseldorf's performance

Norbert Meier's side were impressive throughout the match, but the fact that they got their momentum going only after Frankfurt went down to 10 men cannot be eclipsed. The crowd was firmly behind their team, who deservedly won maximum points at the Esprit Arena.

Eintracht Frankfurt's performance

Coach Armin Veh will point out that the dismissal of Matmour was the turning point in the match, and indeed Fortuna scored two quick goals after the forward was shown his second yellow card. However, Frankfurt were in disarray all over the pitch, especially at the back where 17-year-old defender Mzrc-Oliver Kempf had a disappointing game.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Stefan Reisinger: There were no real outstanding performers in Friday's game, but among all the Fortuna players Stefan Reisinger was the one who was the most impressive. The 31-year-old opened the scoring in the 38th minute and drove his team forward from the midfield.

Referee's performance

Michael Weiner's decision to show Matmour his second yellow card was harsh and controversial, and probably made the game come to life. Besides that decision, his officiating was spot on.

What next?

Fortuna Dusseldorf: Meier's side will be keen to maintain their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga against Nuremberg on the road next weekend.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Veh's team will be looking to bounce back from this defeat with victory over Werder Bremen at home next weekend.
