Sports Mole

Feyenoord and Fortuna Sittard draw the curtain on round 15 of the 2021-22 Eredivisie season with their meeting at De Kuip on Sunday.

The sides head into the game in contrasting forms, with the hosts unbeaten in their last 10 outings across all competitions, while the visitors are looking to avoid a sixth consecutive loss.

Match preview

Feyenoord emerged triumphant on home turf for the fourth game running following a 2-1 victory over Heracles on Wednesday.

After going behind to Sinan Bakis' 15th-minute strike, Arne Slot's men upped the ante and turned the game on its head thanks to two goals from Luis Sinisterra.

De Stadionclub are second in the Eredivisie table at the moment, four points behind current leaders Ajax with a game in hand.

Awaiting the Rotterdam-based club next is a clash versus an opposing side who they beat in both of last season's league meetings by a combined score of 5-1.

One of only two teams yet to taste defeat on home turf this term, Sunday's hosts are huge favourites to come out on top in this one.

Fortuna's downward spiral continues following a 2-1 defeat to AZ Alkmaar at the AFAS Stadion on Thursday.

Sjors Ultee's men took the lead in the ninth minute through Zian Flemming before goals in either half from Vangelis Pavlidis and Jesper Karlsson turned the game on its head.

The Fortunezen have slipped further into danger and currently sit bottom but one on the league standings, three points adrift of safety.

Sunday's visitors, who are yet to pick up an away triumph this term, are set for another stern test on the road this weekend.

Team News

First-choice goalkeeper Justin Bijlow has missed his side's last three games and is also a doubt for this weekend's contest.

Luis Sinisterra has found the back of the net in three of his last four appearances on home turf, and the 22-year-old is one to keep an eye on.

Roel Janssen will serve the second of a three-game suspension following his red card in Fortuna's defeat to Groningen last Saturday.

The away side will also be without the services of Lisandro Semedo, who continues to nurse an ankle injury.

Feyenoord possible starting lineup:
Marciano; Malacia, Senesi, Trauner, Pedersen; Kokcu, Til, Aursnes; Jahanbakhsh, Sinisterra, Linssen

Fortuna Sittard possible starting lineup:
Van Osch; Cox, Pito, Angha, Lonwijk; Musaba, Tekie, Duarte; Seuntjens, Flemming, Hansson

We say: Feyenoord 3-0 Fortuna Sittard

Fortuna have struggled at both ends of the pitch of late, and it is hard to see them coming away from this one with anything. We back the home side to cruise to a comfortable victory at the end of the 90 minutes.
