Round 30 of the 2021-22 Eredivisie season concludes with a clash between Fortuna Sittard and Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday.

The sides come into this one off the back of mixed results last time out, with the hosts coming away with all three points, while their visitors fell to a humbling defeat.

Match preview

Sittard ended a run of three games without winning by beating Sparta Rotterdam 3-0 at the Fortuna Sittard Stadion on Saturday.

Sjors Ultee's men took the lead after just 10 minutes through Mats Seuntjens before a brace from Paul Gladon put the result beyond doubt.

As a result, the Fortunezen have moved a point clear of the relegation zone with just five matches left to play.

Next up is the task of taking on an opposing side who have won just one of the last four encounters between the teams.

However, that solitary triumph did come in the most recent meeting as Sunday's hosts fell to a 4-3 defeat in October's reverse fixture.

Go Ahead Eagles saw their three-game winning streak snapped following a 3-0 defeat to Utrecht on Saturday.

Quinten Timber, Othman Boussaid and Bart Ramselaar were all on the scoresheet as Kees Van Wonderen's men fell flat at De Adelaarshorst

Prior to that, the Pride of the IJssel Kowet saw off the threat of Willem II 4-0 to make it nine points from the last nine available and move into the top half of the standings.

Sunday's visitors have scored the joint second-fewest number of goals away from home and will need to get going at the attacking end of the pitch to secure a positive result in this one.

Team News

Midfielder Roel Janssen continues to battle with a muscle injury which has seen him miss each of the last five games.

In what was only his second start in a Sittard shirt, Paul Gladon netted twice and should retain his place in the XI.

Currently sitting on nine goals, 25-year-old Inigo Cordoba will be looking to reach double digits in goals for the first time in his career.

Off the back of three consecutive Eredivisie clean sheets, we expect Van Wonderen to name an unchanged defensive unit of Bas Kuipers, Joris Kramer, Gerrit Nauber and Cuco Martina.

Fortuna Sittard possible starting lineup:
Van Osch; Tirpan, Angha, Siovas, Pinto; Duarte, Tekie; Noslin, Flemming, Seuntjens; Gladon

Go Ahead Eagles possible starting lineup:
Noppert; Martina, Nauber, Kramer, Kuipers; Rommens, Brouwers; Deijl, Cordoba, Oratmangoen; Lidberg

We say: Fortuna Sittard 3-2 Go Ahead Eagles

The teams delivered a cracking contest in the reverse fixture, and we expect more of the same this weekend. We also fancy the home side to get the better of their visitors and carry the day.
