France head coach Didier Deschamps confirms that he is considering calling up Thierry Henry for a farewell appearance.

France head coach Didier Deschamps has revealed that he is considering calling up Thierry Henry for a farewell game next year.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Zinedine Zidane have both suggested that Henry should be given the chance to play one final match for the national side in a friendly against Brazil in March.

The 37-year-old's future at club level remains unclear following his decision to leave the New York Red Bulls, with some suggesting that the former Arsenal and Barcelona striker will announce his retirement to begin a career in coaching.

"It has become such a big media subject," Deschamps told RMC when asked about the idea of selecting Henry in March. "Thierry Henry is a great player. He has marked the history of the France team, as have some others.

"It is worth thinking about. I'll take the time to discuss it with the federation president.

"After people have ideas, they end up in the press. I won't close the door but I don't want to put pressure on this issue. We will take the time to discuss it. This is not for tomorrow. It will keep going. Thierry Henry is Thierry Henry."

Henry played 123 games for France between 1997 and 2010, scoring a record 51 goals for the national team.
