Antoine Griezmann has said that he 'hopes to sleep with the World Cup trophy' following France's 4-2 win over Croatia in the final of the 2018 competition on Sunday afternoon.
An action-packed final saw six goals, and four of those came for France as they landed the World Cup crown for just the second time in their footballing history.
Griezmann scored a controversial penalty late in the first period following a VAR review, and the Atletico Madrid forward has joked that he now wants "to sleep with the cup" as the celebrations get underway.
"We can't wait to bring the cup back to France. To score in the final makes me so happy. I hesitated to do a Panenka [with the penalty]. I hope to sleep with the cup," Griezmann told TF1.
Griezmann committed his long-term future with Atletico Madrid ahead of the tournament, having previously been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona.
