France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris insists that his side must be fully committed if they are to beat Argentina in their last-16 World Cup encounter on Saturday.

France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has insisted that his side must be fully committed if they are to beat Argentina in their last-16 World Cup encounter on Saturday.

Les Bleus, who defeated Australia and Peru in their opening two Group C matches, settled for a draw against Denmark on Tuesday to progress as group winners.

Argentina, meanwhile, scraped through in second after a goal from Marcos Rojo dumped Nigeria out of the competition.

France captain Lloris told the Evening Standard that his teammates need to "step up" their performances to reach the quarter-finals.

"This is going to be a big match, and a difficult one, we are going to have to step up our level," the Tottenham Hotspur stopper said. "We should go beyond our limits, have to be full of energy, bet on our collective solidity and use it all.

"There has been a lot of excitement [in the French camp], because Argentina are a major contender, with great players and many supporters in the stadium.

"We hope to answer the call to continue with our [World Cup] adventure."

France's match is followed by a clash between Uruguay and Portugal.
