France have beaten Belarus 3-1 in their World Cup qualifying match this evening.
The first half passed without much incident as neither side could find a way through the opposition's defence.
This changed five minutes into the second period, however, as Franck Ribery found Etienne Capoue, who made no mistake with his finish to make it 1-0 to the hosts.
This lead was doubled after 68 minutes, and again Ribery was instrumental. The Bayern Munich winger this time found Christophe Jallet, who followed Capoue's example to make it 2-0.
Four minutes later Belarus were handed the perfect chance to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty, but Sergey Kornilenko couldn't convert his spot kick. Anton Putlisa was on hand to make it 2-1, however.
The hosts put the game to bed 10 minutes from time when Karim Benzema set up Ribery, who capped off a fine individual performance by scoring to make it 3-1.
