Kit Symons bemoans "unlucky" Fulham loss at Turf Moor

Kit Symons admits that Fulham conceded two "very poor" goals in the first half against Burnley, but believes his side were good value for at least a point at Turf Moor.

Fulham boss Kit Symons has claimed that his side were worthy of at least a point away at Burnley this evening.

The Cottagers saw their five-match unbeaten run come to an end at Turf Moor after slipping to a 3-1 reverse.

Ross McCormack restored some hope for Fulham early in the second half when halving Burnley's Andre Gray-inspired two-goal lead, but Matty Taylor struck late on to secure the points for the home side.

"We were unlucky not to get anything from the game but we gave two very poor goals away in the first half," Symons told reporters post match. "Andre Gray had a free header and then a clean run through on goal. Other than those two lapses, I don't think Joe Lewis made a save first half.

"We gave ourselves a bit of a mountain to climb but I said to the players at half-time that we know we can come back from it because we did it a couple of weeks ago against Reading, who are equally a very good side and we came back to win having been 2-0 down.

"We nearly did it tonight, we nearly got ourselves back into the game, we got a good goal from Ross and a few other opportunities, but things wouldn't quite fall for us."

Fulham drop one place to 11th in the Championship table, with Birmingham City next up in four days' time.
