Fulham manager Martin Jol has insisted that the loan signing of Darren Bent is not a gamble for the club.
Bent, who recently joined the Cottagers on a season-long deal from Aston Villa, scored on his debut during Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League.
"If you take players when they're in a bad situation but know the potential, you always hope you're the one who will get the maximum out of that potential," Jol is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
"With other players it's always a gamble but if you look at his record he scores goals. Even when he's not playing he scores goals!"
Bent found the next six times in 23 games for Aston Villa last season.
