Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon has emerged as a transfer target for Southampton, according to a report.
The Saints will enter the January transfer window with an additional £75m in their coffers following the sale of Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool.
Sessegnon, who can play in defence and on the wing is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in English football, with numerous Premier League sides and even Real Madrid said to be keen on his signature.
According to The Telegraph, Southampton know that their bid would be audacious given the calibre of the competition but are hoping that a proven track record in nurturing young players will stand in their favour.
The report goes on to say that Matt Targett could potentially move the other way as part of the deal, while any sell-on clause could also interest Fulham were Sessegnon to progress in the same way as Van Dijk.
Sessegnon, who is contracted at Craven Cottage until 2020, has made 24 Championship appearances this season, scoring five goals and registering three assists.
