Gateshead snatched a draw with relegation-threatened Southport thanks to Alex Rodman's late equaliser this evening.
Luke George tried his luck from 20 yards inside the opening five minutes as the away side started brightly, and Richard Brodie should have opened the scoring on 15 minutes but could only fire wide after collecting George's clever pass.
Gateshead's best chance in the opening half came when Jonathan O'Donnell's cross was intercepted at the last moment by David Raya as Robert Ramshaw lay in wait.
Brodie then put his side ahead just after the hour mark, but Gateshead were level through Rodman just 10 minutes later.
Substitute Danny Wright spurned a golden chance to snatch the win for Gateshead when he headed Rodman's cross over the bar in the final minutes.
