Germany defender Jerome Boateng has been ruled out of Tuesday's friendly with Spain due to a calf injury.
Wolfsburg's Robin Knoche has been called up by the world champions as a replacement for the 26-year-old.
Boateng, who has won 50 caps for Germany, will now return to club Bayern Munich to begin treatment.
Germany got their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign back on track on Friday with a 4-0 win over Gibraltar.
