Kevin Grosskreutz has insisted that he is willing to play in any position to ensure he gets on the pitch for Germany at the World Cup.
The 25-year-old, who has played in defence and midfield for Borussia Dortmund, is hopeful that he will be given the nod by Joachim Low to start at right-back against Portugal on Monday night after Germany's head coach confirmed that Philipp Lahm would be used as a midfielder.
"I'd be lying if I said that I hope I'm not the one who's given the right-back spot," Grosskreutz told reporters. "Of course I want to play, that's what we all want here. But I'm here to help the team, no matter what area of the pitch.
"I see myself as a football player, not as [one] in any particular fixed position. After this season, I have no set place on the pitch, I really have played almost everywhere."
Grosskreutz has played just five times for Germany.
