Germany manager Joachim Low has praised his players for handling the threat posed by Cristiano Ronaldo in the 4-0 victory over Portugal on Monday.
Ronaldo struggled to stamp his authority on the match as Portugal began their Group G campaign with a crushing defeat, but Low was keen to focus on his own side's defensive achievements after the game.
"The team played well and didn't let Portugal have many chances," the 54-year-old told reporters.
"We played at high pace in the first half to get our chances. It's important to prevent Ronaldo from getting a run going because he's very dangerous then."
Germany meet Ghana in their second fixture on Saturday evening.
