Getafe sign Alvaro Pereira on loan

Getafe sign former Porto and Inter Milan full-back Alvaro Pereira on loan until the end of the season.

Getafe have completed the signing of full-back Alvaro Pereira on loan until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old joins the La Liga outfit from Estudiantes having returned to South America following a disappointing spell with Inter Milan.

The Uruguay international moved to the Serie A giants having won two league titles and the Europa League during a three-year spell with Porto, where his form saw him linked with Chelsea.

However, he made only 33 league appearances during his time at San Siro, moving to Sao Paulo on loan before completing a permanent switch to Estudiantes.

He is now back in Europe, though, and will spend the remainder of the season with Getafe, who currently sit 11th in the La Liga table.

Pereira could make his debut for the club against Malaga on Friday night.
