Greece and Paraguay both qualify for the next stage of the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey following a 1-1 draw in Group D.

Greece and Paraguay have both secured their places in the next round of the Under-20 World Cup following a 1-1 draw in Group D.

The first chance of the clash came for Greece in the opening seven minutes when Andreas Bouchalakis launched a 40-yard strike towards goal, which the Paraguayan goalkeeper was able to save.

Following the opening effort, Greece were able to dictate play through a number of chances - another from Bouchalakis, which could have opened the deadlock. The midfielder, who placed himself yards away from the keeper, received the ball in the box and tried to hook it into the back of the net, but it fell straight into the keeper's arms.

Paraguay, who were denied a penalty claim towards the end of the half, were forced down to 10 men when captain Gustavo Gomez received a second yellow card after coming across his man. However, he could have seen a straight red earlier on in the half when he elbowed Konstantinos Triandafillopulos in the face during a collision.

In the early stages of the second half Konstantinos Stafylidis whipped the ball into the box searching for a blue and white shirt, but the Paraguayan keeper managed to punch clear and keep the clash goalless.

While Greece continued to dominate the encounter, they struggled in the final third to make their positive play count and take advantage of their one-man advantage, while Paraguay seemed well organised and content to keep Greece at bay for the time being.

However, Greece finally found the breakthrough from a delivery into the box, which Dimitrios Diamantakos got on the end of after soaring above the keeper to head the ball into the back of the net.

While Greece looked likely to see out their victory, Paraguay snatched an equaliser through Brian Montenegro, who chested the ball from a flick-on and executed an overhead kick to draw level.
