Sokratis Papastathopoulos has warned Greece's fellow Group C opponents not to underestimate his side.
The Galanolefki are seen as outsiders in a group containing Colombia, Ivory Coast and Japan, but the Borussia Dortmund defender points to the country's Euro 2004 triumph as a reminder of what they are capable of.
"Our national team has had some big successes as well, particularly in big tournaments such as the World Cup and the European Cup," he told FIFA.com. "Favourites are the teams that are in good shape."
Of Greece's last World Cup campaign in South Africa four years ago, the 26-year-old added: "I have fond memories of that tournament. It was my first time playing at a World Cup and Greece won for the first time."
Papastathopoulos made his international debut in 2008, going on to make 47 appearances.
