Second-half goals from Ross Caldwell and Peter MacDonald gave Greenock Morton an important win over Dunfermline in Scottish League One tonight.
The result puts Morton just two points behind top-of-the-table Stranraer, who drew 1-1 at Airdrieonians this afternoon.
Dunfermline's Andrew Geegan had three good chances in the first half, including two headers from close range, but he was unable to convert any of them.
Morton took the lead when Caldwell blasted the ball into the net from the middle of the box, before Andrew Barrowman almost levelled from distance.
The hosts wrapped the game up late on when Caldwell set up MacDonald on the left, and he tucked the ball away with aplomb to make it 2-0.
