Hamburger SV remain the only side to never be relegated from Germany's top flight after today's 1-1 draw against Greuther Furth in the Bundesliga relegation playoff.
After last week's goalless draw at home, Hamburg had to hang on for a draw at the Trolli ARENA.
HSV started the brighter and were almost in front in the 14th minute when Hakan Calhanoglu struck the post.
Seconds later they would take the lead through Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who got up well and powerfully headed Rafael van der Vaart's delivery into the top corner.
Lasogga almost doubled the visitors' lead soon after half time but his close-range header was kept out by Wolfgang Hesl.
Furth then levelled the game just before the hour mark when Stephan Furstner poked home after a reverse through-ball from Zoltan Stieber.
Greuther knew that they had to score to earn promotion but they couldn't break Hamburg down, with visiting keeper Jaroslav Drobny making crucial late saves to keep out Niclas Fullkrug and Benedikt Rocker.
