Groningen ended their five-match winless run in Eredivisie by beating Go Ahead Eagles 2-0 this evening.
Goals in either half from Albert Rusnak and Tjaronn Chery were enough for Groningen to win for the first time since November.
Rusnak only joined the club on loan from Cambuur earlier this month and took his Groningen tally to two in three games on nine minutes.
The home side continued to dominate at Euroborg, but had to wait until the 67th minute to establish a cushion as Tjaronn Chery converted from Jarchinio Antonia's cross.
The win takes Erwin van de Looi's side up to eighth in the table and within six points of third-placed Feyenoord.
Go Ahead remain 14th, four points clear of the relegation zone, having lost four of their last five matches.
