Sports Mole previews Tuesday's African Nations Championship clash between Guinea and Namibia, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

In the final round one fixture of the group stages, Guinea will aim to continue their supremacy over Namibia when both nations meet at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium.

The Syli Nationale are making their third participation in the African Nations Championship, while Namibia are making their second, after debuting at the tournament in 2018.

Match preview

After an impressive fourth-placed finish in their debut campaign in 2016, Guinea crashed out in the group stages of the 2018 edition in Morocco, after finishing third in Group A.

They picked up just three points in three games, falling to defeats against Sudan and Morocco, and this led to the sacking of head coach Kanfory Mohamed Bangoura.

However, Bangoura has been offered a chance to redeem himself, as the Guinea Football Association have recalled him to lead the Syli Nationale to the 2020 CHAN tournament.

While Guinea will aim to go far in the competition, making it out of Group D will be the first step for the 59-year-old, who has summoned a 30-man squad for the trip to Cameroon.

On the other hand, Namibia are making their second appearance in the tournament, following a successful debut campaign in 2018, where they were knocked out by Morocco in the semi-finals.

The Brave Warriors booked their place in this year's edition of the continental tournament by overturning a first-leg defeat to beat Madagascar 2-1 on aggregate at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

They were the first nation to arrive in Cameroon ahead of the tournament, after taking off from the coastal town of Walvis Bay back in December.

The Southern African nation started training on December 8, but due to a coronavirus outbreak in the squad, their training camp was cut short by head coach Bobby Samaria.

Namibia have not tasted victory against Guinea in their last six meetings, suffering five defeats and one draw, but they will look to bring this poor form to an end when both nations lock horns on Tuesday.

Team News

Guinea have a clean bill of health, after all 30 players tested negative for the coronavirus after landing in Cameroon from their respective clubs.

Thirty-six-year-old Zemus FK forward Camara Ibrahima Sory has been called up to the Guinea squad, as Bangoura looks to add a sprinkle of experience to his youthful side.

There has been a huge boost for Namibia, as Bobby Samaria now has a full squad to pick from, after fresh coronavirus test results have returned negative for all 27 players.

Marcel Papama and Panduleni Nekundi will combine to lead the Brave Warrior's attack, after the duo inspired African Stars to a second-place finish in the MTC Premiership last season.

Guinea possible starting lineup:
Moussa; Sekouba, Mohamed, Naby, Mangue; Morlaye, Ismael, Mohamed; Boniface, Sory, Camara

Namibia possible starting lineup:
Maova; Martin, Ngaruka, Mutanga, Ikeinge; Handura, Neibeb, Papama; Nekundi, Gurirab, Kambin

We say: Guinea 2-0 Namibia

Namibia are currently on a terrible run against their Guinea counterparts, and considering the quality players in the Guinea squad, we expect the Syli Nationale to heap further misery on Bobby Samaria's men and grab all three points on Tuesday.
