Goals from Anthony Martial and Layvin Kurzawa have fired AS Monaco into a half-time lead against 10-man Guingamp at Stade du Roudourou.
It took just three minutes for the 18-year-old striker to open the scoring, with Colombian winger James Rodriguez providing the assist.
The home side were reduced to 10 men in the 23rd minute, with Jonathan Martins Pereira picking up a second yellow card for deliberate handball.
His first came as a result of a reckless challenge on Rodriguez four minutes earlier.
The task awaiting Jocelyn Gourvennec's side was made infinitely harder three minutes before the break when Kurzawa doubled the lead with a header from Rodriguez's corner.
