Guingamp coach Jocelyn Gourvennec has hailed the importance of his side's 2-1 victory away at Nice in Ligue 1 by suggesting that it will now give the team some momentum.
Striker Christophe Mandanne bagged a brace to ensure Guingamp victory at the Stade Municipal, putting an end to a run of three defeats in the French top flight.
"It was important to get some momentum, because we had lost three in a row," said Gourvennec, according to the official Ligue 1 website.
"The three points were important for both teams, and I'm happy we got them. It was a special game with very few chances in the first half. We thought we had done the hardest thing by opening the scoring, but we let them back into it with a defensive mistake.
"The players went out and got a second goal despite that blow, and we were able to defend our lead afterwards."
Guingamp currently occupy 10th spot in the league standings.
