Evian TG have edged out Guingamp 1-0 in Ligue 1 to move five points clear of the bottom three.
Guingamp got off to a fine start and could have been ahead inside the opening minute, but Thibault Giresse's shot did not have enough power to beat Jesper Hansen in the away goal.
Evian were not in the game at all, but their rigid shape was proving hard for Guingamp to break down. Rachid Alioui came close with a shot from distance, but it never looked like beating Hansen.
Alioui and Hansen's battle continued with 10 minutes of the first half to play, but the forward's next effort, although on target, did not beat the goalkeeper.
Almost immediately after the restart Cedric Cambon put the visitors in front. He met a Cedric Barbosa free kick and beat the goalkeeper with a low header.
Claudio Beauvue headed an effort just wide and that was as close as the home side came to levelling, with the result lifting Evian five points clear of relegation danger.
