Ligue 1 strugglers Guingamp have moved off the foot of the table after goals from Christophe Mandanne, Thibault Giresse and Claudio Beauvue gave them a vital 5-1 victory at home to fellow languishers Caen this evening.
Guingamp looked the most threatening in the opening minutes and they were soon ahead as Beauvue picked out Mandanne in the centre of the box, leaving him to make no mistake with a cool finish into the bottom right corner of goal.
However, Caen's Jean-Jacques Pierre turned in an inch-perfect delivery in the 15th minute, which allowed the unmarked Alaeddine Yahia to head in from just a matter of yards out.
Despite Caen's valiant attempt, parity was to last just five minutes as Giresse made use of a smart free kick to find space inside the box and drill his shot into the bottom left corner past a helpless Remi Vercoutre.
Any chance of a Caen fightback was put on hold in the 60th minute as Jacques Pierre was shown a straight red card for a handball inside the box, allowing Beauvue to step up and make it 3-1.
The man-disadvantage was visible straight away as Guingamp secured another goal just a minute later when Mandanne grabbed his second of the night by latching on to Giresse's delivery, before Beauvue also nabbed a brace when he netted in the 78th minute to leave the final score at 5-1.
