Hamburger SV chairman Carl-Edgar Jarchow has backed under-fire manager Bert van Marwijk, despite the club's recent run of disappointing results.
The Red Shorts lost 3-0 away to Hoffenheim on Saturday to suffer five Bundesliga defeats in a row, leaving themselves in the relegation zone for the first time this season.
"Even a defeat to [Hertha] Berlin [next weekend] would not change our faith in Van Marwijk. We are pleased that Van Marwijk is in Hamburg," Jarchow told Kicker magazine.
"We are always changing coaches here and there is talk about the position once again. What annoys me is that the highly-paid players are as such taken out of the firing line again."
Van Marwijk has been in charge of Hamburg for just over four months, having replaced Thorsten Fink earlier this season.
