Aberdeen beat Hamilton Academical 1-0 to go five points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership this evening.
Christian Nade saw a deflected shot fly over the crossbar for Hamilton early on, before Adam Rooney's flick from a well-worked corner narrowly flashed by the post as Aberdeen looked to press forward.
Graeme Shinnie then fell under the challenge of Ziggy Gordon in the box, and Rooney promptly stepped up to smash the ball in and give Aberdeen the lead.
Grant Gillespie's volley came close for Hamilton before Aberdeen upped the tempo after the break, Rooney threatening with a header before a handball appeal in the box was waved away by referee Crawford Allan.
Gramoz Kurtaj then had a shot deflected wide before Niall McGinn fired an effort onto the Hamilton crossbar.
The match ended 1-0 as Aberdeen looked happy to sit back and pass the ball around, despite the constant pressure of the Hamilton attack.
The win means that the Dons are now five points clear of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. Hamilton remain in sixth place.
