A late own goal from Alexander Madlung has handed Hannover a 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, who have now lost their last four games in all competitions.
Hannover dominated possession for long spells of the first half, but the hosts lacked a cutting edge in the final third as the stubborn Frankfurt defence held firm.
The best chance before the break fell to Leonardo Bittencourt, who curled a shot inches wide of the post from the edge of the box.
Both sides improved in the second half, with Hannover going close to an opener when Hiroshi Kiyotake stormed clear of the visiting defence before being denied by Felix Wiedwald.
Frankfurt stopper Wiedwald was forced into action once again moments later to get a crucial hand on Joselu's powerful effort.
Ron-Robert Zieler followed his rival by keeping Hannover on level terms with a reflex save to keep out Vaclav Kadlec's close-range volley.
Just as both sets of supporters were preparing to settle for a point each, Hannover were gifted the Bundesliga victory as Madlung inadvertently diverted Marcelo's header into his own net.
