Colin Cooper has resigned as Hartlepool United manager following the team's 3-0 defeat to Carlisle United.
The result has left Pools at the bottom of the League Two table with just eight points from their opening 11 games of the season.
Cooper, 47, took charge of the club at the end of the 2012-13 campaign.
"We would like to thank Colin for his efforts during the last eighteen months," chairman Ken Hodcroft said in a statement on the club's official website. "We are glad that we gave him his break in management and would like to wish him every success in the future."
Hartlepool return to action on Tuesday when they host Sheffield United in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
