Adam Johnson is reportedly interested in signing for National League side Hartlepool United after his release from jail.
The 31-year-old was sacked by Sunderland two years ago after pleading guilty to sexual activity with an underage girl, before being sentenced to six years in prison.
According to The Sun, the former Manchester City player has chosen Hartlepool as his preferred destination if he returns to the pitch after finishing his sentence.
The report adds that Johnson turned down a move to a Chinese club, while an MLS deal is off the cards as an American visa cannot be issued to a registered sex offender.
Johnson won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Community Shield during his time at City between 2010 and 2012.body check tags ::
