Hertha Berlin have marked their return to the Bundesliga with a 6-1 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt.
The hosts were quick to build an advantage through Adrian Ramos, who tapped home from close range to break the deadlock after 19 minutes.
Defender John Anthony Brooks then doubled Hertha's advantage from a corner kick, heading home after Freiburg failed to clear their lines on two occasions.
Freiburg were handed a lifeline just before the break from the penalty spot, which last season's top scorer Alexander Meier duly dispatched as he squeezed a low strike into the bottom corner.
The visitors were only within touching distance for 15 minutes as Hertha went on the rampage with four goals in the final 30 minutes.
Tunisian striker Sami Allagui was the catalyst, scoring twice in three minutes as he followed a poacher's finish with a fine strike on the counter.
Ramos then got his second of the match before Brazilian forward Ronny made it a super six for Hertha just before stoppage time.
