Scannell continued to cause problems for Cardiff, running at their defence at every opportunity.
On 38 minutes, Craig Bellamy had an effort on goal, but his shot was parried away well by Alex Smithies.
The away side almost took the lead just before half time when Matthew Connolly volleyed the ball and hit the bar.
Scannell fizzed a shot at goal on 49 minutes, but the goalkeeper did well to keep it out.
Bellamy had a great chance on 61 minutes, but he fired wide from six yards out.
Both sides pushed for a winner in the last 15 minutes as the game became much more open.
However, neither side could grab a late goal and the game ended 0-0.
