A late James Vaughan equaliser earnes Huddersfield Town a 2-2 draw against Bolton Wanderers.

A late James Vaughan equaliser spoiled Bolton Wanderers' late comeback and earned Huddersfield Town a 2-2 draw at the Galpharm this afternoon.

The Terriers led at the break courtesy of a Zat Knight own goal, before Mark Davies and Chris Eagles turned the game around in the away side's favour.

However, Vaughan struck three minutes from time to ensure the game finished level.

It was the visitors who made the brighter start, with Terriers goalkeeper Alex Smithies forced into making several saves early on.

Despite this early pressure, it was the home side that went ahead with 10 minutes played, as Knight put a Huddersfield corner into his own net.

Bolton nearly found the perfect response, when Keith Andrews drilled a loose ball narrowly over the bar after Mark Davies's initial shot was blocked.

The home side came a whisker away from doubling their advantage when Simon Church squared the ball to Lee Novak, whose shot cannoned off the crossbar.

The game then quietened down, as the Terriers went into half time ahead.

The Trotters had the first chance of the second half as Knight nearly headed Bolton level from a free kick.

Bolton continued to control the match as Eagles put through Lee Chung-Yong, but the Korean struck across the face of goal.

Jack Hunt then produced a last-ditch tackle to deny Eagles a shot at goal.

Next it was Kevin Davies's turn to have a shot at goal, but he fired his effort just wide of Smithies's post.

The big man then went closer when he pinged his 25-yard strike just wide of goal following neat play from Lee.

Bolton finally drew level, as Mark Davies dribbled his way through the Terriers' defence before slotting home an equaliser 20 minutes from time.

The visitors then had the perfect opportunity to turn the game around from the penalty spot after Paul Dixon fouled Sam Ricketts, but Smithies was on hand to save Eagles's spot kick.

However, Bolton did manage to take the lead as Eagles made amends for his penalty miss by finishing from the edge of the area off Mark Davies's flick to put the away side 2-1 up.

With just two minutes of normal time left to play, the home side managed to find an equaliser when James Vaughan finished from the narrowest of angles after Alan Lee's pass.

The home side nearly won it in the dying moments of the match, but Adam Bogdan produced a fantastic save to deny Vaughan a second.

Huddersfield remain 15th while Bolton stay in 17th place.
