Hull City manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that Shaun Maloney is close to joining the club.
Maloney has spent the last seven months with the Chicago Fire after swapping Wigan Athletic for the US, but he has been repeatedly linked with a return to England since arriving in the MLS.
Hull emerged as favourites to land his signature earlier this month, and Bruce is excited about what the Scotland international can bring to the squad.
"He's got that bit of quality on the ball, he's played at the highest level and he will give us that little bit of something extra," the Tigers boss told reporters.
Maloney is unlikely to be signed in time to play against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
