Hull City manager Mike Phelan has confirmed that he is interested in signing Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez during the January transfer window.
The Tigers are in the market for a forward having scored just four goals in their last seven league games, with Will Keane ruled out for the rest of the season and Dieumerci Mbokani set to join up with DR Congo for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Rodriguez has made just one Premier League start for Southampton so far this season having fallen behind Shane Long and Charlie Austin in the pecking order, and Phelan revealed that the 27-year-old is on his wanted list.
"We are trying, we're interested in a couple. People like Jay Rodriguez, who are getting sporadic games at their clubs," he told reporters.
"But there are others. We just have to monitor everybody and hopefully we can get the right ones who fit, who we can possibly bring in."
Hull are currently the joint lowest scorers in the Premier League having managed just 10 goals from their 12 outings so far.
