Ipswich Town defender Ibrahima Sonko is set to miss up to four weeks after falling on the frozen pitch at Portman Road this weekend.
The Senegalese centre-back hit the turf in the 32nd minute of Ipswich's home game with Middlesbrough on Saturday with the pitch's condition deteriorating rapidly.
The game was abandoned five minutes later by referee Dean Whitestone.
"I would imagine it will be between two and four weeks," Tractor Boys boss Paul Jewell told BBC Radio Suffolk.
"It's a blow. Every time we go on a good run one of our centre-halves seems to get injured."
The Liverpudlian boss added that because of the problems at centre-half, the club are likely to look for a loan signing to cover any more injuries.
"It's in an area that leaves us really short and we are trying to improve that area," Jewell added.
The Blues have conceded 57 goals in the Championship this season, the most of any side, and are currently 19th in the table.
