Freddie Sears scores one goal and creates another as Ipswich Town win 2-1 away at Fulham's Craven Cottage.

The Championship's in-form away side - sixth-placed Ipswich Town - recorded a 2-1 victory from their trip to Fulham this evening.

No team in the second tier has collected more points on the road this season than Mick McCarthy's men, who took their tally for the season to 20 thanks to goals from Freddie Sears and Brett Pitman.

It took Sears a mere 16 seconds to break the deadlock at Craven Cottage, taking his goal contribution for the campaign to six in the process.

The striker ran on to his own flick-on and then as Fulham goalkeeper Andy Lonergan approached, Sears showed good composure to pick out the bottom corner.

The travelling Tractor Boys went close to doubling their advantage through Pitman and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, the latter of whom struck the crossbar from distance. However, having been unable to score a second goal, Ipswich were duly pegged back in the 15th minute.

The home side had not registered a shot on target up until that point, but from 30 yards out, skipper Ross McCormack beat Dean Gerken from a set-piece situation.

Despite that disappointment, the visitors from Suffolk continued to dominate proceedings and they eventually regained the lead in the 57th minute. Sears turned creator on this occasion for Pitman, who darted towards the near post to turn in his seventh goal in Ipswich colours.

As the encounter drew to a close Sears spurned a chance to make the points safe, while up the other end McCormack drew a save from Gerken, which ended any hope of Fulham snatching a late draw.
