Ipswich Town are expected to lose the loan services of defender Danny Higginbotham.
Championship outfit Ipswich had agreed an extension with Higginbotham's parent club Stoke City, who were willing to allow the 35-year-old to stay at Portman Road for the remainder of the season.
However, the former Manchester United trainee has since received an offer from another club which would not force him to relocate.
"We had agreed a deal with Danny to stay but there has been interest in him from other clubs," Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy told the club's official website. "That comes as no surprise as he's a terrific professional and that's why we wanted to keep him here.
"He wants the chance to earn a permanent move and preferably something which is closer to his home.
"I can understand that and if it works out for him then I wish him all the best of luck."
Higginbotham made 12 appearances during his stint with the Suffolk-based side.
