Ipswich Town confirm that Stephen Hunt will stay with the Tractor Boys until the end of the season after earning an extension to his short-term deal at Portman Road today.

Ipswich Town have confirmed that Stephen Hunt has inked an extension to his short-term deal which will see him remain at Portman Road until the end of the season.

The Republic of Ireland international joined the Tractor Boys in November on a 'pay as you play' deal which was poised to expire in the new year.

However, Hunt, who expressed his desire to be offered a full-time deal on Wednesday, has seen his wish granted and the former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger will remain with Mick McCarthy's men for the duration of the 2013-14 campaign.

"It goes without saying that I'm delighted to be staying at Ipswich Town," he told the club's official website. "When I first came here it was to get my foot in the door so to speak, to see how I got on with the club and how the club got on with me.

"I think I've played okay and the manager has shown faith in me. Now I have to improve and show that I merit that longer deal. I'm very happy to stay here as I feel really settled and hopefully we can crack on now and push for the top six."

The 32-year-old made his Town debut in the 3-2 victory over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on November 9.

McCarthy, who managed Hunt at Molineux, teamed up with another Wolves old boy earlier today by signing free agent Sylvain Ebanks-Blake until the end of the season.
